Architectural Details
We decided to go back out to the reservoir today to see what we could find of interest. The Old Stone Church in West Boylston, MA is one of the most photographed buildings in this area. I find it a very interesting area to roam around and read the history. Many houses, factories and buildings were abandoned and the area was flooded over for the reservoir. The old stone church is vacant inside and the shell still stands where it has been all these years.

cool pic! love the design...reminds me of a small castle!
ReplyDeleteSheila, as a thumbnail ho-hum, enlarged _WOW GOLLY GOSH GEE WILIKERS and quite a number of other superlative spring to mind. That is one of the best photos I have ever seen. I don't know technique, R.O.T or any of that photo jargon but I do know THAT IS ONE HELL OF A PHOTO. I want to go there and wear out ten batteries snapping that majestic building. Thank You
ReplyDeleteHow sad that to see a lovely old building like that fall idle. But, even though its empty, I notice they still put a huge wreath on the side!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful image. How sad when something this lovely is just abandoned.
ReplyDeleteGreat shot. Makes me think of a casrle too . Expect to see an archer in the tower/steeple.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful shot. The contrast of the dark grey with the brilliance of the snow is just breathtaking.
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful and sad. Lovely shot. It looks strong even if vacant, hope it keeps standing.
ReplyDeleteI used to live down the street from this area (I live in NC now). This really isn't abandoned - it is aside the reservoir that gets a lot of visitors. This area used to be a town until they sank the town to make the reservoir. It is a nice area for a picnic or walk. Great winter picture! It is really pretty here in the Fall.
ReplyDeleteAnd there is a great hot dog vendor nearby, too!
ReplyDeleteGreat photo of a very beautiful structure, Sheila. I'll have to find another idea..:-)
Beautiful church and photo! The snow on the roof adds a nice touch.
